Upcoming catalystThe event that could move the share price.
Stellantis unveils nine concept cars from eight brands and a set of new production models at the Paris Motor Show, on the press day of Monday 12 October 2026. Its group press conference starts at 09:45 CEST, which is 07:45 UTC, followed by Citroën, Peugeot, DS, Leapmotor, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Opel at intervals until 11:40 CEST. Stellantis confirmed the programme in a press release. International premieres include the DS N°7 SUV, the Fiat Grizzly, the Lancia Gamma, the Leapmotor B03 and D19 and the Opel Corsa GSE. The stand is the largest at the show.
Main stock affectedThe company the event affects most directly.
Stellantis N.V., New York Stock Exchange ticker STLA, also listed in Milan and Paris.
Current priceWhere the shares traded when this write-up was made, and when that was.
$4.81 as of 21 Sept 2026, 20:00 UTC, the regular-session close.
Expected stock reactionWhich way we expect the share price to go after the event. Positive means it rises, Negative means it falls, Mixed means it could go either way.
Mixed, and small. Positive if the premieres come with prices and launch dates that show Stellantis rebuilding its European range, where its market share fell 0.8 points to 16.0% in the first half. Negative if the show is all concepts and no dates, because a stock at a 52-week low is being sold on margins, not on design.
Action before the eventWhat we suggest you do before the event. Buy, Watch or Avoid.
Watch. The stock is falling for reasons a motor show cannot fix: two bank downgrades in September, a second-quarter operating margin of 1.8%, and a Canadian labour contract that expired on 20 September. Paris is a showcase, and the reaction on the last press day in 2024 was under 2%. Anyone who wants to act can do so after the European session has digested the show and before New York opens.
Why the stock is affectedThe link between the event and this company.
Stellantis owns fourteen brands, and its problem is that too few of them are selling profitably. Europe made a negative adjusted operating margin of 0.6% in the second quarter and lost market share. A motor show is where the group shows whether its next products can win that share back. The FaSTLAne 2030 plan, set out in May under chief executive Antonio Filosa, rests on new models doing exactly that. Paris is its largest public test so far.
Catalyst confidenceHow sure we are that the event happens as described. Scored out of 100. Higher means more sure.
The show and the press conference schedule are confirmed by Stellantis and the show organiser. Confidence that the event happens as scheduled: 98%.
Stock-reaction confidenceHow sure we are that the stock reacts the way we expect. Scored out of 100. Higher means more sure.
Low. Motor show days have moved this stock little, the products on show will not reach customers for months, and the forces pushing the stock down are margins, downgrades and labour. Confidence in the reaction: 40%.
When the market will reactThe moment the price is likely to move, such as at the announcement or at the next market open.
The press conferences run from 07:45 to about 09:40 UTC, during the morning session in Milan and Paris, where Stellantis is most actively traded. The European reaction is therefore largely in place before New York opens at 13:30 UTC on 12 October, and the NYSE shares will open close to wherever Milan has taken them. 12 October is Columbus Day in the US, when the bond market is closed but the stock market is open.
Effect on the businessWhat the event changes for the company itself, such as its sales, costs or profit.
None this quarter. Concept cars are previews, and even the production premieres go on sale over the following months. What they can change is the outlook for European share, which fell 0.8 points to 16.0% in the first half, and for Europe's margin, which was negative 0.6% in the second quarter.
Market expectations and forecastWhat investors already expect from this event, and the numbers being forecast.
Expectations for the business are low. Morgan Stanley moved to Underweight in September with a Milan target of €4.50, cut from €5.70, and Berenberg moved to Hold with a target of €5.10, cut from €7.80. Both pointed to profit failing to recover as fast as shipments, especially in North America. The average target on the US listing is $6.70, well above the current price, which says most analysts see value but few see a catalyst. For the year the company guides to mid-single-digit revenue growth, a low-single-digit adjusted operating margin and improved industrial free cash flow, after a tariff cost of €1.0 billion to €1.2 billion and about €2 billion of cash payments for 2025 restructuring. My forecast is a well-received show, with the Fiat Grizzly, the Lancia Gamma and the two Leapmotor models drawing the attention, and no change to the financial story. That is a small positive at best.
How much is already priced inHow much of the expected outcome the share price already reflects before the event happens.
Low for the show, high for the bad news. The stock has fallen 51.80% in twelve months, closed at a 52-week low of $4.76 on 18 September, and trades at about 5 times forward earnings and 0.08 times sales. Nobody is paying for a product recovery. That is why a strong show can lift it, but only a little: the market needs margins, not cars, to change its mind.
Expected price move and durationHow far the share price may move because of this event, and how long that move may last.
Options-Implied Move I cannot confirm a figure for this event. Options on the US listing are priced in cents on a sub-$5 stock, and the contracts spanning 12 October also span the labour talks and the October shipments release, so no price can be attributed to the show. Historical Event Analysis Measured from Polygon's daily bars on the US listing. Paris Motor Show 2024, press day on 14 October 2024: the shares rose 1.77% that day, from $13.01 to $13.24, and fell 2.49% the next day to $12.91. Earlier shows fall outside the two years of data available to this card. Historical Average Move Plus 1.77%, the one comparable event in the data, and it was fully reversed the next session. One event is not a pattern. Our Expected Move Plus 1% to plus 4% if the premieres come with prices and on-sale dates for Europe and the labour talks in Canada are settled. Minus 1% to minus 4% if the show is concepts without dates, or if a strike in Canada is under way by then. The range is wider than 2024 because the stock is cheaper and more volatile now: its average true range is 3.64% of the price, and a sub-$5 stock at a 52-week low moves further on any headline. Impact Strength Low. The show is a product event for a company whose stock is being priced on margins and labour. Estimated Duration Intraday to 1 trading day. The next hard number is third-quarter shipments and revenue at the end of October. None of these three percentages is the same claim. The options figure would be what the market charges, the historical figure is what the 2024 press day did, and the expected move is my own conclusion.
What else lands that dayOther news and events on the same day that could push the price around, and whether they help this trade, bury it, or work against it.
The day is clear of anything that competes with this show. 12 October is Columbus Day, so US bond markets are closed and US data is light. Renault, Volkswagen and the Chinese brands also present on the same press day, which is competition for attention rather than a market event. Stellantis reports third-quarter shipments and revenue at the end of October. The one live risk is off the calendar: Unifor declared an impasse in talks over Stellantis's Canadian plants, where the contract ran to 20 September. If a strike is under way by 12 October, it will matter more than anything in Paris. Net effect: on a normal day, the move is about the show, and it will be small.
Result needed for a big moveWhat the outcome has to be for the stock to move a lot instead of a little.
A number. If Filosa uses the Paris stage to say anything about margins, the second-half outlook or North American inventory, the stock will trade on that, not on the cars. A statement that second-half margins are tracking toward the upper end of the low-single-digit guide could be worth several percent on a stock this depressed.
Possible outcomesThe main ways the event could turn out, with the expected stock reaction for each one.
Positive outcome. Strong premieres with European prices and on-sale dates, and no strike in Canada. Expected stock reaction: a rise of 1% to 4%, back toward the 50-day average at $5.46. Neutral outcome. A well-received show of concepts, few dates. Expected stock reaction: a move under 1% in either direction. This is the most likely outcome. Negative outcome. A strike in Canada, or a show overshadowed by further downgrades. Expected stock reaction: a fall of 1% to 4%, through the $4.76 low into new territory.
Other affected stocksOther companies that could move on the same news, such as suppliers and competitors.
Ford and General Motors are the direct US comparisons on North American margins and on the Canadian labour talks, which Unifor runs with all three Detroit carmakers. Toyota and Honda compete with Jeep and Ram in North America. Renault and Volkswagen, which present the same day, trade in Europe.
What the market may be missingSomething we think investors have overlooked or read wrong.
The Paris show is about Europe, and the stock is being sold on North America. The downgrades in September were about margins failing to follow shipments in North America, and about dealers still clearing excess inventory there. North America is where Stellantis makes most of its money. Paris is where it will show most of its new cars. A great show in Paris does not answer the question that sent the stock to a 52-week low. The overlooked opportunity is valuation. At about 5 times forward earnings and 0.08 times sales, with €44.1 billion of industrial liquidity, the stock prices in a long period of poor profits. If the second half shows margin progress, the recovery from here could be sharp. The show will not tell you whether that is coming.
Main risksWhat could go wrong, and what would prove this call wrong.
The first risk is labour. The Canadian contract has expired and Unifor has declared an impasse. The second is margins. A second-quarter operating margin of 1.8% leaves very little room for tariffs, incentives or a weaker market. The third is momentum. The stock has fallen on every window measured and sits at a 52-week low, and falling stocks at their lows tend to find new lows. The fourth is supply of shares. Several Form 144 filings show a large holder planning to sell.
Other factorsAnything else worth knowing that the sections above do not cover.
Industrial free cash flow turned positive at €1.0 billion in the second quarter, an improvement of about €1.0 billion on a year earlier, which is the one financial line that has clearly turned. Stellantis pays no dividend at present.
Trend over 6 to 12 monthsWhich way the share price has been heading over the past year, and how far it has travelled.
Down, steeply. The shares are down 51.80% over the last 52 weeks, 24.01% over six months, 24.61% over three months and 8.56% over the last month. The 52-week range runs from $4.76 on 18 September 2026 to $12.22 on 5 December 2025, and the 21 September close sits 0.7% of the way up it.
Recent price actionWhat the shares have done over the last few weeks and sessions, and on what kind of volume.
The stock hit its 52-week low on 18 September, the day of the Berenberg downgrade, when it fell 5.23% in Milan, and has held just above that level since. The last month has been a steady decline rather than a single shock.
Market structureThe shape of the chart. Rising highs and rising lows mean an uptrend, falling ones mean a downtrend, and neither means the price is stuck in a range.
Lower highs and lower lows. The stock has halved from its December high and the latest low is the lowest in the year. Picture a staircase going down with no landing yet.
Support and resistance zonesPrice areas where buyers have stepped in before, and price areas where sellers have. They often slow the price down when it gets there again.
There is no support below the $4.76 low within the two years of data behind this card. Resistance is the 50-day average at $5.46, about 12% above the price. The 200-day average at $7.56 is far away.
50-day and 200-day moving averagesThe average closing price over the last 50 days and the last 200 days. Where the price sits against them shows whether the recent trend is strong or fading.
A moving average is the average closing price over that many trading days, drawn as a line so the trend is visible without reading every session. The 50-day average is $5.46 and the 200-day is $7.56. The 21 September close was 11.96% below the 50-day and 36.40% below the 200-day, and the 50-day sits $2.10 below the 200-day. That is a long, established downtrend.
Relative strengthHow this stock has performed against the wider market and against its own sector over the same period.
Against the S and P 500 tracking fund, Stellantis trails on every window: by 9.99 percentage points over one month, 28.52 over three months, 43.27 over six months and 68.60 over twelve months, minus 51.80% against plus 16.80%.
Volume trendHow many shares are changing hands lately compared with normal. Heavy volume behind a move means more traders agree with it.
Flat. The 20-day average is 21,611,309 shares against a 50-day average of 21,440,410, a difference of under 1%. The decline has come on steady selling rather than a panic.
VolatilityHow much the share price swings day to day right now, compared with how much it usually swings.
The 14-day average true range is $0.17, or 3.64% of the price, and the average daily high-to-low range over 20 sessions is $0.13, or 2.79%. Realised volatility is 40.52% over 14 days and 40.90% over 50 days, annualised. A normal day moves about as much as the expected reaction to the show.
Long-Term Technical ViewThe wider chart over years. The big trend, the major price levels and how much the stock swings.
The long-term resistance is the December 2025 high at $12.22. There is no long-term support in the data below the September low.
Technical biasWhat the chart alone suggests, ignoring the news. Rated Bullish, Neutral or Bearish.
Bearish. The price is below both averages, the 50-day is below the 200-day, the structure is lower highs and lower lows, and the stock is at a 52-week low. Nothing on the chart has turned. The bearish chart does not contradict the mixed call. The chart says the trend is down. The catalyst view says the show could produce a small bounce, which would be a bounce within that trend unless margins change.
What would invalidate this biasThe price level or chart change that would prove the technical read wrong.
A daily close above the 50-day average at $5.46 would be the first real damage to it. A close above the 200-day average at $7.56 would end it.

Stock OverviewThe basic numbers. Price, size of the company, sector, the past year of highs and lows, trading volume and the next earnings date.
Market value is approximately $13.95 billion on 2.90 billion shares. Stellantis operates in the consumer discretionary sector and the automaker industry. Its 52-week range on the US listing is $4.76 to $12.22. Recent average daily volume is about 21.6 million shares. The Paris press day is on 12 October 2026 and third-quarter shipments are due at the end of October.
What the company doesThe business in plain words. What it sells, who buys it, and how the money reaches the company.
Stellantis builds and sells cars, SUVs, pickups and vans under fourteen brands, including Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Fiat, Citroën, Opel, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Dodge and Chrysler, and sells the Chinese brand Leapmotor outside China through a joint venture. It was formed in 2021 by the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA and reports in euros.
Revenue BreakdownWhere the money comes from, split by product, by part of the business and by country.
Second-quarter 2026 revenue was €43.48 billion. North America, mostly Jeep and Ram, is the largest profit centre, and its sales grew 6% with a market share of 7.4%. Enlarged Europe made a negative adjusted operating margin of 0.6%. Asia-Pacific sales fell 29%, or 22% including Leapmotor. Trailing twelve-month revenue is $183.78 billion.
Company GrowthHow sales, profit, earnings per share and spare cash have changed over the last few years.
Revenue fell from €189.5 billion in 2023 to €156.9 billion in 2024, a drop of 17%, as shipments and prices fell, and has been rebuilding slowly since, with second-quarter shipments up 10%. Company growth is Low.
Earnings PerformanceThe latest results, whether they beat or missed what the market expected, and what the company says comes next.
The second quarter showed improvement from a very low base. Adjusted operating income was €773 million, a margin of 1.8% against 0.6% a year earlier, and net profit was €293 million. Over the trailing year Stellantis still reports a net loss of $22.25 billion, reflecting the large charges taken in 2025.
Financial HealthCash, debt, cash flow and profit margins, and whether the company keeps issuing new shares. Rated Strong, Average or Weak.
Industrial available liquidity was €44.1 billion at the end of June, about 27% of trailing revenue. Consolidated cash is $36.50 billion against $59.52 billion of debt, which includes the finance business. Trailing free cash flow is negative $13.20 billion, though industrial free cash flow turned positive in the second quarter. Financial health is Average.
ValuationWhat you pay today for what the company earns, next to its rivals and its own past. Rated Cheap, Fair or Expensive.
There is no meaningful trailing price to earnings ratio because of the loss. The forward ratio is about 5.1 and price to sales about 0.08. These ratios show how much you pay today for each dollar of profit. On forward earnings and sales Stellantis is Cheap, priced for profits that stay poor for a long time.
ShareholdersWho owns the company. Big funds, company insiders, and whether ownership sits with only a few holders.
Institutions own about 49.99% of the shares. The largest holder is Exor, the Agnelli family holding company. Short interest is 5.76% of the float.
Insider ActivityWhether the people running the company have been buying or selling their own shares lately.
Several Form 144 filings show planned sales by an insider or large shareholder. I cannot confirm the seller or the size, so I am not quoting them.
Dividends and BuybacksCash paid out to shareholders, whether that payment looks safe, and whether the company is buying back its own shares.
Stellantis pays no dividend at present.
Competitive PositionWho the company competes with, how much of the market it holds, and what it has that rivals do not.
In North America it competes with Ford, General Motors, Toyota and the rest of the market for pickups and SUVs. In Europe it competes with Volkswagen, Renault and a fast-growing group of Chinese brands. The advantage is the brand portfolio, and Jeep and Ram in particular, which are among the most profitable nameplates in the industry when they sell at full price. The weakness is that fourteen brands spread investment thin, and several of them have lost share for years.
Future OutlookWhat sales and profit are expected to do next, and what management has promised.
My view is neutral on the company. Shipments and margins have turned up from a very low point and industrial cash flow is positive again, but margins are still far below the industry, and the labour and tariff risks are live.
Other Upcoming Company CatalystsOther events ahead that could move the share price, such as results, launches or approvals, apart from the catalyst this report is built on.
Third-quarter shipments and revenue at the end of October, the outcome of the Unifor talks in Canada, and progress on the FaSTLAne 2030 plan are the next catalysts.
Long-Term Company RisksWhat could weaken the business over the coming years, rather than around this one event.
The largest long-term risk is European competition from Chinese brands with lower costs. The second is North American profitability, which depends on Jeep and Ram holding their prices. The third is the cost of the electric transition, which has already produced very large write-downs.
Traderavel VerdictOur straight answer on the company after everything above, not on the trade. Quality, growth, price, risk and the long-term view.
Stellantis is a cheap stock attached to a weak business that has started, slowly, to recover. Growth is low, financial health is average and company risk is high. The Paris show is a showcase on a stock being sold for other reasons. The card suits value investors who want to watch whether the new products can rebuild European share while waiting for margin evidence, and traders who can accept a move about the size of an ordinary day. It does not suit anyone hoping a motor show will end a twelve-month downtrend.
