Upcoming catalystThe event that could move the share price.
Apple’s scheduled product event on 9 September 2026 at 17:00 UTC. Apple has confirmed the event, but it has not confirmed the products. The market expects iPhone 18 Pro models and may see Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Main stock affectedThe company the event affects most directly.
Apple, AAPL.
Current priceWhere the shares traded when this write-up was made, and when that was.
324.96 as of 02 Sept 2026, 20:00 UTC, the regular-session close
Expected stock reactionWhich way we expect the share price to go after the event. Positive means it rises, Negative means it falls, Mixed means it could go either way.
Mixed. A launch-ready foldable iPhone with credible pricing and supply could lift the stock. A preview with delayed availability, very high pricing or limited supply could trigger a sell-the-news decline.
Action before the eventWhat we suggest you do before the event. Buy, Watch or Avoid.
Watch. Do not chase the stock after its recent rally. The preferred trade is to wait for the specifications, price and availability date. Consider buying a controlled pullback only if the product details improve Apple’s fiscal 2027 revenue outlook.
Why the stock is affectedThe link between the event and this company.
The iPhone produced 49.6% of Apple’s fiscal third-quarter 2026 revenue. A foldable model could raise the average selling price, attract upgrades and generate more Services spending. Weak pricing, poor availability or a delayed release would reduce that opportunity while exposing the stock’s expensive valuation.
Catalyst confidenceHow sure we are that the event happens as described. Scored out of 100. Higher means more sure.
The event is confirmed, so confidence that it happens is 99%. My forecast is that Apple unveils the Pro lineup and at least introduces or previews a foldable device. Confidence in that product outcome is 75% because Apple has not confirmed the lineup.
Stock-reaction confidenceHow sure we are that the stock reacts the way we expect. Scored out of 100. Higher means more sure.
68%. The conditions controlling the reaction are clear, but the direction depends on details that remain unknown, especially price, shipping date, production capacity and whether the foldable device is a real 2026 product or a future preview.
When the market will reactThe moment the price is likely to move, such as at the announcement or at the next market open.
The first reaction should occur during the event from 17:00 UTC to the 20:00 UTC market close on 9 September 2026. A more reliable reaction should develop over the following one to three trading days as analysts revise shipment, pricing and margin estimates.
Effect on the businessWhat the event changes for the company itself, such as its sales, costs or profit.
A successful premium launch could increase iPhone revenue through higher prices and renewed upgrade demand. It could also support accessories, AppleCare, App Store and subscription revenue. A highly complex foldable device could initially carry lower hardware margins if component costs, yields or warranty expenses are worse than expected.
Market expectations and forecastWhat investors already expect from this event, and the numbers being forecast.
The market expects refreshed iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. Reports also expect a foldable iPhone, while the standard iPhone 18 may move to 2027. Apple has not confirmed those details. My base forecast is a premium-focused lineup and a foldable introduction with constrained initial supply. That would be strategically positive but may not add enough near-term earnings to justify an immediate large rally. For trading, a price below about $2,000 and September availability would be positive. Pricing above $2,500, a 2027 release or unclear shipment volumes would be negative.
How much is already priced inHow much of the expected outcome the share price already reflects before the event happens.
Medium to high. The event date and likely premium lineup are widely known. AAPL has risen about 7.5% from its 12 August close to the current price and trades at roughly 35.5 times forward earnings. The options market is pricing only a moderate event move, suggesting it expects a launch without a major earnings reset. The less-priced element is whether the foldable product is commercially ready, affordable and available in useful volume.
Expected price move and durationHow far the share price may move because of this event, and how long that move may last.
Options-Implied Move The 11 September 2026 expiration implies approximately ±4.4%. The ± sign measures the expected size, not the direction. The options market is not taking the side of this forecast. Historical Event Analysis 9 September 2025, iPhone 17 event, AAPL fell 1.48% during the event-day session. 9 September 2024, iPhone 16 event, AAPL rose about 0.04% during the event-day session. 12 September 2023, iPhone 15 event, AAPL fell about 1.71% during the event-day session. 7 September 2022, iPhone 14 event, AAPL rose about 0.93% during the event-day session. Historical Average Move Past reactions went both ways. The average absolute event-day move from four events was ±1.04%. Calculation: 1.48% + 0.04% + 1.71% + 0.93% = 4.16%. Dividing by four gives 1.04%. The sample is relevant but limited. Our Expected Move +3% to +6% if Apple confirms a competitively priced foldable device that ships in September with credible supply. -2% to -5% if availability slips, pricing is excessive or the event contains mostly incremental upgrades. This range is wider than the historical average because a first foldable iPhone would be a larger strategic change than a normal annual refresh. It remains close to the ±4.4% options estimate. Impact Strength Medium. The iPhone is Apple’s largest revenue source, but one launch event rarely changes near-term earnings enough to reprice a company worth about $4.7 trillion unless the product and shipment details are exceptional. Estimated Duration 1-3 trading days for the initial reaction. A durable move lasting several weeks needs strong preorders, long delivery times caused by demand rather than production problems, and upward fiscal 2027 estimate revisions.
Result needed for a big moveWhat the outcome has to be for the stock to move a lot instead of a little.
A large positive move needs a foldable iPhone priced near or below $2,000, near-term general availability, meaningful production capacity, strong battery life and features that create a clear upgrade reason. A large negative move needs a delay into 2027, pricing above $2,500, severe supply limits or evidence that the new design damages margins.
Possible outcomesThe main ways the event could turn out, with the expected stock reaction for each one.
Positive scenario: Apple launches a foldable iPhone for September delivery, keeps pricing competitive and provides convincing productivity or AI features. Expected reaction: +3% to +6%. Neutral scenario: Apple unveils strong Pro phones but gives limited foldable availability or few shipment details. Expected reaction: -1% to +1%. Negative scenario: The foldable is delayed, extremely expensive or absent, while the Pro models receive large price increases without major new features. Expected reaction: -2% to -5%.
Other affected stocksOther companies that could move on the same news, such as suppliers and competitors.
TSM could benefit from demand for advanced Apple-designed processors. AVGO could benefit from higher wireless component content. GLW could benefit if the foldable design requires higher-value cover materials. QCOM faces risk if Apple expands the use of its own modem technology.
What the market may be missingSomething we think investors have overlooked or read wrong.
The key issue is not whether Apple can sell an expensive foldable phone. It is whether the device changes the upgrade cycle across the wider iPhone base. Limited first-year volume can still be valuable if it proves a design that later moves into lower-priced products. The overlooked risk is margin. A higher selling price does not guarantee higher profit if displays, hinges, processors and warranty costs rise faster.
What else lands that dayOther news and events on the same day that could push the price around, and whether they help this trade, bury it, or work against it.
9 September 2026 is one of the emptier scheduled days of the month. The US macro calendar carries only employer costs for employee compensation at 14:00 UTC, which does not trade. No Federal Reserve event, no inflation print and no jobs data compete with the launch, and no other company of comparable size is scheduled that afternoon. That is unusual for an Apple event and it is worth knowing, because it means the tape reads the product rather than reading it through something else. The two following mornings are the opposite: producer prices arrive at 12:30 UTC on 10 September and consumer prices at 12:30 UTC on 11 September, and both move the multiple the market pays for a mega-capitalisation technology stock. Net effect: the day is clear, and the reaction is a clean verdict on what was shown. What to expect on the day. The event runs from 17:00 UTC into the afternoon, so the reaction builds through the second half of the session rather than arriving in one print. Apple has repeatedly drifted lower through a launch and recovered on pre-order and lead-time evidence in the following week, so the same-day close is a weak signal on its own. Be aware that the week you would judge it over opens with two inflation releases that can move the stock more than the phone does.
Main risksWhat could go wrong, and what would prove this call wrong.
Overall risk is medium. The analysis could fail if unexpected AI features become the main valuation driver, if broad technology stocks move sharply during the event, or if leaked product details make the announcement fully priced before 9 September. The stock also has downside sensitivity to its premium valuation.
Other factorsAnything else worth knowing that the sections above do not cover.
Apple entered a leadership transition on 1 September 2026. The event is an early test of whether the new leadership can present a credible product and innovation roadmap. Interest rates and the broader Nasdaq trend may also outweigh the product reaction for a short period.
Trend over 6 to 12 monthsWhich way the share price has been heading over the past year, and how far it has travelled.
The trend is rising. AAPL gained about 23.2% from its 3 March 2026 close of $263.75 and about 36.3% from its 3 September 2025 close of $238.47. The highest confirmed closing price in the 12-month window was about $340.08 in late July 2026. The lowest confirmed close was $226.79 on 10 September 2025.
Recent price actionWhat the shares have done over the last few weeks and sessions, and on what kind of volume.
AAPL rose from $302.25 on 12 August 2026 to $324.96, a gain of about 7.5%. It jumped 2.61% on 1 September on 53.2 million shares, above its recent average. It then finished almost unchanged on 2 September on about 25.8 million shares, showing less conviction. The price is about 5.7% below its $344.57 52-week high and sits in the upper 17% of its $225.95 to $344.57 range.
Market structureThe shape of the chart. Rising highs and rising lows mean an uptrend, falling ones mean a downtrend, and neither means the price is stuck in a range.
The broader structure remains an uptrend, with higher lows since the March 2026 area near $246 to $264. The near-term chart is consolidating below the July high. In simple terms, buyers have repeatedly appeared around $310 to $315, while sellers have appeared near $340 to $345.
Support and resistance zonesPrice areas where buyers have stepped in before, and price areas where sellers have. They often slow the price down when it gets there again.
First support is $310 to $315. This area was tested on at least six late-August sessions. A close below it would weaken short-term momentum. Second support is $302 to $306. It was tested across several sessions from 12 to 17 August. A close below $302 would suggest the August breakout has failed. First resistance is $327 to $330. It was tested on 1 and 2 September. A strong close above $330 on heavy volume would reopen the path toward the highs. Major resistance is $340 to $345. This contains the late-July peak and the 52-week high. A close above $345 would confirm a new breakout.
50-day and 200-day moving averagesThe average closing price over the last 50 days and the last 200 days. Where the price sits against them shows whether the recent trend is strong or fading.
The 50-day moving average is $312.94 and rising. The 200-day moving average is $283.07 and rising. Price is above both, and the 50-day is above the 200-day. That alignment is normally bullish. A moving average is simply the average closing price over the stated number of trading days. I cannot confirm the exact date of the most recent crossover.
Relative strengthHow this stock has performed against the wider market and against its own sector over the same period.
Over 12 months, AAPL gained about 36.3%. SPY gained about 18.8%, from $643.74 to $765.16. XLK gained about 40.5%, from $130.68 to $183.60. Apple beat the broad market by about 17.5 percentage points but lagged the technology sector by about 4.2 points. Its relative performance improved during August, although it has not clearly taken sector leadership.
Volume trendHow many shares are changing hands lately compared with normal. Heavy volume behind a move means more traders agree with it.
Recent volume is mixed. Ten-day average volume is about 39.8 million shares. Volume reached 53.2 million on the 1 September advance, about 34% above that average, which confirmed that day’s buying. Volume dropped to 25.8 million on 2 September, about 35% below average. This means the latest pause had less participation than the preceding rally.
VolatilityHow much the share price swings day to day right now, compared with how much it usually swings.
The average daily high-to-low range over the latest 16 regular sessions was about $6.35, or 2.0% of the current price. That is moderate volatility for this setup. Your position should allow for ordinary moves of about 2% without assuming the trade has failed. A stop should sit beyond a real support level rather than inside the normal daily range.
Long-Term Technical ViewThe wider chart over years. The big trend, the major price levels and how much the stock swings.
The multi-year trend remains upward. Major long-term support sits near $225 to $240, followed by $260 to $280. The main long-term resistance is $340 to $345. Long-term volatility remains meaningful because Apple’s valuation and product cycle can produce sharp corrections even within a rising trend.
Technical biasWhat the chart alone suggests, ignoring the news. Rated Bullish, Neutral or Bearish.
Bullish. Price is above rising 50-day and 200-day averages, the 50-day is above the 200-day, and the stock has gained more than 23% in six months. This differs from the mixed event call. I give more weight to the mixed catalyst view for the first one to three days because the stock is near resistance and the event can produce a sell-the-news reaction.
What would invalidate this biasThe price level or chart change that would prove the technical read wrong.
A daily close below $302 would invalidate the near-term bullish bias and point toward a deeper retracement. A later break below the rising 200-day average near $283 would turn the medium-term structure bearish.

Stock OverviewThe basic numbers. Price, size of the company, sector, the past year of highs and lows, trading volume and the next earnings date.
AAPL traded at $324.96 at 2 September 2026, 20:00 UTC. Market value was about $4.74 trillion. Apple is in the technology sector and consumer electronics industry. Its 52-week range was $225.95 to $344.57. Ten-day average volume was about 39.8 million shares. The next earnings release is scheduled for 29 October 2026, but I cannot confirm the release time.
What the company doesThe business in plain words. What it sells, who buys it, and how the money reaches the company.
Apple designs devices including the iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch and AirPods. It also sells subscriptions and digital services including iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV, App Store services and AppleCare. Hardware revenue usually arrives when a device is sold. Services revenue is more recurring. A simple example is a customer buying an iPhone once, then paying Apple every month for cloud storage and entertainment.
Revenue BreakdownWhere the money comes from, split by product, by part of the business and by country.
Fiscal third-quarter 2026 revenue was $109.42 billion. iPhone produced $54.25 billion, or 49.6%. Services produced $30.74 billion, or 28.1%. Mac produced $10.35 billion, or 9.5%. Wearables, Home and Accessories produced $7.88 billion, or 7.2%. iPad produced $6.19 billion, or 5.7%. By region, the Americas produced 41.8% of quarterly revenue, Europe 26.9%, Greater China 17.2%, Rest of Asia Pacific 8.1% and Japan 6.0%. Apple depends most heavily on the iPhone. A serious slowdown there would affect hardware revenue, store traffic and later Services spending.
Company GrowthHow sales, profit, earnings per share and spare cash have changed over the last few years.
Fiscal 2022 revenue was $394.3 billion, net income was $99.8 billion, diluted EPS was $6.11 and free cash flow was $111.4 billion. Fiscal 2023 revenue was $383.3 billion, net income was $97.0 billion, diluted EPS was $6.13 and free cash flow was $99.6 billion. Fiscal 2024 revenue was $391.0 billion, net income was $93.7 billion, diluted EPS was $6.08 and free cash flow was $108.8 billion. Fiscal 2025 revenue was $416.2 billion, net income was $112.0 billion, diluted EPS was $7.46 and free cash flow was $98.8 billion. For the first nine months of fiscal 2026, revenue was $364.36 billion, net income was $101.46 billion, diluted EPS was $6.88 and free cash flow was $110.20 billion. Free cash flow was calculated as $117.00 billion of operating cash flow minus $6.80 billion of capital spending. Growth was slow and uneven from 2022 through 2024, then accelerated in 2025 and 2026. EPS has grown faster than revenue because profit improved and the share count declined.
Earnings PerformanceThe latest results, whether they beat or missed what the market expected, and what the company says comes next.
Fiscal third-quarter 2026 revenue was $109.42 billion versus an estimate near $109.04 billion. Diluted EPS was $2.02 versus an estimate near $1.89. Both beat expectations. EPS also beat estimates in the prior four reported quarters. Apple guided fiscal fourth-quarter revenue growth of 9% to 11% and mid-teens iPhone growth. I cannot confirm comparable revenue consensus figures for every earlier quarter from one consistent dataset.
Financial HealthCash, debt, cash flow and profit margins, and whether the company keeps issuing new shares. Rated Strong, Average or Weak.
At 27 June 2026, Apple held $39.54 billion in cash and $106.97 billion in marketable securities, for total liquid funds of $146.52 billion. Commercial paper and term debt totalled about $84.34 billion, leaving approximately $62.18 billion of net cash and securities after debt. Nine-month operating cash flow was $117.00 billion and free cash flow was $110.20 billion. Quarterly gross margin was 50.1%, up from 46.5% a year earlier, although tariff refunds added about two percentage points. Operating margin was 32.6%, up from about 30.0%. Shares outstanding declined about 2.1% year over year. Apple could survive a bad year without raising outside capital.
ValuationWhat you pay today for what the company earns, next to its rivals and its own past. Rated Cheap, Fair or Expensive.
Trailing price to earnings is about 37.3. Forward price to earnings is about 35.5. PEG is about 3.36. Enterprise value to EBITDA is about 27.9. These figures show how much you pay today for each dollar the business earns. Apple’s five-year average forward P/E was about 27.2 and its five-year average EV to EBITDA was about 23.1. Its current multiples are above those levels and above several major technology peers. The stock looks expensive. The premium reflects brand strength, recurring Services revenue, cash generation and buybacks, but it leaves less room for execution errors.
ShareholdersWho owns the company. Big funds, company insiders, and whether ownership sits with only a few holders.
Vanguard reported ownership of 9.63% and BlackRock reported 7.10% in Apple’s 2026 proxy statement. Insiders owned about 0.06%, while institutions owned about 65.4%. Ownership is broad, but large index managers can create significant trading flows during market rebalancing.
Insider ActivityWhether the people running the company have been buying or selling their own shares lately.
Jennifer Newstead sold 1,439 shares on 11 August, 1,439 on 18 August and 1,439 on 25 August 2026, for a combined 4,317 shares worth about $1.33 million. The transactions were linked to a Rule 10b5-1 plan. The recent pattern is scheduled selling, not open-market buying. Routine planned sales carry less negative information than a discretionary sale.
Dividends and BuybacksCash paid out to shareholders, whether that payment looks safe, and whether the company is buying back its own shares.
Apple pays a quarterly dividend of $0.27 per share, or $1.08 annually. At $324.96, the yield is about 0.33%. Apple resumed regular dividends in 2012 and has raised the payment gradually. The dividend uses a small part of earnings and appears safe. Apple authorized an additional $100 billion repurchase program in April 2026. During the first nine months of fiscal 2026, it repurchased 215 million shares for $61.8 billion. It also had $38.0 billion remaining under the May 2025 authorization at 27 June 2026.
Competitive PositionWho the company competes with, how much of the market it holds, and what it has that rivals do not.
Apple competes with Samsung and Google in phones, Microsoft in computers and software, and many companies in payments, streaming, cloud storage and wearables. Its advantage is the integration of hardware, software, chips, stores and services. Customers can move photos, messages, apps and accessories across Apple devices with little effort. That advantage is durable, but it would weaken if Apple falls behind in AI, device design or software quality. I cannot confirm a current global smartphone market-share percentage from a consistent published dataset.
Future OutlookWhat sales and profit are expected to do next, and what management has promised.
Management expects fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 revenue growth of 9% to 11% and mid-teens iPhone growth. Analyst consensus points to fiscal 2026 revenue near $461.7 billion and EPS near $8.85. Fiscal 2027 estimates are about $495.4 billion of revenue and $9.54 of EPS. That implies revenue growth of about 10.9% in fiscal 2026 and 7.3% in fiscal 2027, with EPS growth of about 18.6% and 7.8%. My view is positive on the business but more cautious on the stock at this valuation. Services, premium devices and buybacks support earnings. Future returns require continued growth because multiple expansion is harder from current levels.
Other Upcoming Company CatalystsOther events ahead that could move the share price, such as results, launches or approvals, apart from the catalyst this report is built on.
Fiscal fourth-quarter results are scheduled for 29 October 2026, with the time unconfirmed. Initial delivery estimates and preorder data for the new iPhone lineup should emerge after the September launch. Further Mac and home-product updates may arrive later in 2026, but I cannot confirm scheduled dates.
Long-Term Company RisksWhat could weaken the business over the coming years, rather than around this one event.
The largest long-term risks are dependence on the iPhone, premium pricing during weaker consumer demand, supply-chain exposure in Asia, tariffs, App Store regulation, competitive AI development and a valuation that assumes reliable execution. Greater China produced 17.2% of the latest quarter’s revenue, so political, economic or local competitive pressure matters. The risk that worries me most is paying a high valuation while growth slows back to a mid-single-digit rate.
Traderavel VerdictOur straight answer on the company after everything above, not on the trade. Quality, growth, price, risk and the long-term view.
Apple is a strong business with medium growth, strong financial health and a durable competitive position. Its long-term outlook is positive, but the shares are expensive and company risk is medium because of product concentration, regulation, global supply exposure and high investor expectations. The stock suits long-term quality-growth investors who can tolerate valuation-driven declines. It does not suit income investors or buyers seeking a large margin of safety.
